[Anime]Macross 7

It is very hard to have a successful anime with an unlikable main character. Nekki Basara is an angsty git who takes every opportunity to tick off the audience. So we don't have a very good start here, but essentially we have taken the relatively seriousness of the Macross universe and thrown it all away to showcase this band. GREAT. Just what we needed.

Even worse, the Protodeviln make terribly one-dimensional adversaries, especially since, unlike the original Zentraedi, we can not differentiate between them since they apparently lack any personality to speak of.

So we have aggravating protagonists and uninteresting antagonists, which makes us not particularly care where the plot is going (not to say there is a plot, so much as an extended string of "gigs"). Why, again, should I bother to care about the motivations of the characters when I *actively dislike the characters*?

At least Mylene is cute and the music is great, but just because I like the music doesn't mean I'll like the band *or* the show.

I might even have been persuaded to give this a higher grade, but for the fact that this travesty of an anime sullies the name of Macross. (Which is a very impressive feat considering how silly the whole Minmay concept is to begin with.)

There are so many guys complain Macross7 & MacrossD7. But so...what ?
Almost of them had never known the real purpose why Basara wants to sing the songs (The purpose is to make peace, to save the universe from Protodevil's power and to protect the innocents.), cause they had ignored him. That's very nonsense. -_-"

Basara has got to be one of the most annoying characters in anime. This series might have been alright if it hadn't for him. He really ruined the series for me.
